ஆராய்ச்சி மேலோட்டம்
Care Quotient (CQ)
The two-layer architecture
The Care Quotient (CQ) Scale
Individual capability. One score, five facets.
The Human Premium Index (HPI)
Annual composite of the care economy, partly built on CQ data.
The Care Quotient (CQ) Scale
What CQ is
The trainable ability to deliver human care and judgment at a professional standard.
What CQ is not
- Not IQ. It measures care ability, not cognitive power.
- Not just empathy. It adds regulation, attention and boundaries.
- Not EQ. It predicts care outcomes, not general success.
- Not personality. It is trainable and predicts beyond the Big Five.
The five facets
| Facet | Captures |
|---|---|
| Attunement | Reads another person's state accurately |
| Presence | Gives undivided attention |
| Regulation | Stays steady under emotional load |
| Responsiveness | Turns understanding into the right action |
| Sustaining | Keeps caring without burnout |
Four measurement methods
| Layer | Method |
|---|---|
| A · Disposition | Self-report items |
| B · Judgment | Scenario test |
| C · Performance | Scored behavior in simulations |
| D · Outcome | Client-reported experience |
Illustrative items
Drafts only, not final validated items.
- Attunement: “I notice mood shifts before anyone says something is wrong.”
- Presence: “I keep my full attention on someone who needs me.”
- Regulation: “When someone I care for is upset, I stay steady.”
- Responsiveness: “I know when someone wants advice or just to be heard.”
- Sustaining: “After a hard interaction, I restore my balance quickly.”
Scoring and proficiency levels
- Scale. Mean 100, standard deviation 15.
- Bands. Foundational, Proficient, Advanced, Expert (Master Carer).
- Norms. Trainees plus a general-population sample.
Validation
| Phase | Work |
|---|---|
| 0 · Construct | Define the construct and test blueprint |
| 1 · Items | Write and pretest the item bank |
| 2 · Pilot | Analyze items; drop weak ones |
| 3 · Structure | Confirm five facets; test reliability |
| 4 · Validity | Test against IQ, personality, outcomes |
| 5 · Fairness | Test bias across groups and cultures |
| 6 · Standards | Set norms and certification cut scores |
| Ongoing | Monitor, refresh items, revalidate |
Fairness and ethics
- Test measurement invariance in each market before comparing scores.
- Audit items for bias and publish the results.
- Publish an ethical-use policy; CQ is not a sole hiring filter.
- Protect vulnerable groups: ethics review, consent, anonymization.
Applications
Certification
Backbone of CQ-based credentials.
Matching and hiring
Matches practitioners to clients; informs hiring.
Development
Targets training at each person's weakest facet.
Licensing and research
Licensed to employers, universities and researchers.
